About Us

Welcome to GUY CODE, the official blog of MTV2's "Guy Code" series and your online destination for all things dude, including—but not limited to—irreverent commentary on sports, hip-hop and ladies. Stay awhile and flex your manhood.

We're not sure what any of this means, why Mac Miller is brushing his teeth on the mic or where Charlamagne Tha God got that Asian fan--but it pretty much sums up what makes Vine awesome. It's random, makes no sense and you can't help but smile.

If you think that society is getting more depraved as time goes on, you're probably looking back at the past through rose-colored glasses. As proof, check out these adult pulp novels from a few decades ago. They're just as deviant as anything today...the only difference is guys had to read them instead of going on the internet or watching cable.

Still, since they're books, maybe there's something of value to be learned from them. You can only find used copies on Amazon (gross), so we're not actually going to read them. But we will judge them by their covers to see if we can get any useful information.

hay urinal

Outdoor festival season is here, which means two things: Awesome musical lineups (like the Hangout Music Fest's in a couple weeks) and heinous Porta Potties. But what if you didn't have to lock yourself inside those disgusting, bacteria-ridden stalls? What if you could relieve yourself into a bale of hay, breathing fresh spring air, as nature intended?

Thanks to the French design studio Faltazi, we might all be soaking straw soon. This summer it's unveiling "L'Uritonnoir," the latest innovation in eco-friendly urinal technology. (Well, "technology" might be a stretch.) Faltazi is encouraging guys to conserve water and use our pee to save the environment: "Do not waste this valuable golden fluid by sprinkling on inappropriate surfaces!"

After you drink a few overpriced beers, you take a leak into the polypropylene funnel, which directs your "liquid gold" to the center of the haystack. The nitrogen starts a chemical reaction that creates compost for growing trees...or hops for brewing more beer:

cinnamon challenge
Photo: "Cinnamon Challenge + Pepper Spray" via YouTube

Internet memes seem like harmless wastes of cyberspace and people's time--both those who perform them and those who view them--but some can be surprisingly dangerous. Like the cinnamon challenge, in which a dumbass chokes down a spoonful of tasty cinnamon and then turns into a cloudy, coughing mess. It makes for sweet GIFs, but doctors have just warned that it causes serious respiratory problems.

It's not the only meme that has caused serious medical (or legal) problems for people who'll do anything for 15 minutes of Reddit fame. Here are other instances of memes maiming.

1. Flash Mobs

At first, these publicly organized dance-offs were just a fun way of annoying bystanders and mall shoppers. Then they suddenly took a weird, violent turn. One of the worst happened earlier this month in Chicago when hundreds of teenagers took control of the city's downtown area. The massive gathering turned into a full-blown riot that ended with a number of assaults and several arrests. The only upside to the incident is that it could inspire the most kick-ass episode of "Glee" ever.

The problem with being a functional beer-oholic is that you still have to function. In college, you'll flunk out if you party every night. In the corporate world, you'll get fired if you show up hungover every morning.

Unfortunately, sometimes the great drinking holidays--St. Paddy's, Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas, your birthday, Wednesday--fall in the middle of the week. That's the case this year with Cinco de Mayo. Even though Sunday is technically the weekend, you can't (well, shouldn't) be a nauseous, vomiting mess come Monday morning.

So Dos Equis, with a little help from The Most Interesting Man in the World, is proposing that we instead celebrate Dos de Mayo:

They've set up a whole site with party-hosting tipsfish taco recipes and playlists to "impress any kind of lady" (which might subsequently help you impress her, uh, fish taco).

Here's the thing, though: Dos de Mayo is on Thursday, so it won't save you from Friday's final exam or job performance review. Yeah, we get it, "Dos Equis," "Dos de Mayo"...but c'mon, guys, we've gotta keep up appearances.

Tres de Mayo, though? We're all in. Might even pregame with a Dos-arita...or dos of them, or tres of them, or...

While you were drinking...

  • Two seventh-grade New Jersey girls posted a 20-minute YouTube video in which they list all the classmates they wanted to kill. Sarcasm often doesn't go over well once in the hands of authorities.
  • "Arrested Development" has new character posters, presented here for your perusal.
  • Because your girlfriend will probably bring it up in conversation, here is the Twitpic of Amanda Bynes's half-shaven head.

Sometimes it can be tough for guys to know if they're coming off as creepy or charming. He might have the best of intentions, but the girl just reads the situation as, "DANGER! DANGER!" For example, a guy might watch the movie "Love & Sex" and decide to hire a little person with bongos to serenade his attractive coworker. If the coworker doesn't know where the gesture is coming from, she'll get creeped out and the office will become a very awkward place.

As a way to help out our male readers, we decided to have Jamie Lee from "Girl Code" play a little game called "Creepy Or Charming." We present her with a variety of situations and she tells if it seems like the guy is being cool or a clown.

Damien Lemon has made us crack up, hard, on season after season of "Guy Code." It's about damn time he got more recognition, and the fine folks at Esquire agree. The magazine that published F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Norman Mailer, Tom Wolfe and Truman Capote just called Damien an "underrated comic" and "deceptively wise."

That's kind of a big deal, to put it mildly. Even more flattering, since Esquire is an authority on style, they praise Damien's fashion sense...if not his choice of automobile:

"He's a snappy dresser. He's one of those guys who leaves his shirt on the back of the chair before his set so it doesn't get wrinkled. He drives a beat-up Toyota Corolla. Everything about him is 'fresh' but his car is a real s*** box!"

Hey, at least a backhanded compliment is still a compliment. Congrats to Damien! Check out the whole profile here.

Surely you've seen them. You go to a beer company's website to read up on your favorite suds, but--before you can enter--you're asked to confirm your age. The security system is laughably insecure; you just click "YES" to "Are You 21?" But we began to wonder: What happens if you click "NO"? Turns out, it leads to some pretty interesting pages...

The Bruery

These Orange Country craft brewers produce some of the most sought-after, barrel-aged beers in America. But if you're dumb enough to admit that you're too young to legally drink their products, The Bruery will point you toward what you should be drinking...chocolate milk.

Normally, we wouldn't even expend the energy to make fun of a Michael Bay action movie starring Mark Wahlberg and The Rock. But there's something special about "Pain & Gain," the latest from the explosion-mad director--namely, that it's set in Miami. And as you likely know, that means the bikinis will be as plentiful as the car chases.

In the trailer alone, there are at least nine eye-popping moments that suggest the entire 129 minutes will have viewers popping other things. We've gathered those notable shots below in a compendium of the biggest reasons we're looking forward to this movie. Fair warning: Shirtless Tony Shalhoub is included, but that couldn't be avoided.
