Today's Badass: 'Batman' Turns Suspect Over To British Police

Taking a burglary suspect to a local police station would've been enough to warrant "Today's Badass" status. But doing it dressed as Batman goes above and beyond.

Yes, the Caped Crusader is real. He might be fat and British, but he's real. According to a spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police, "The person who brought the wanted man into the station was dressed in a full Batman outfit. His identity, however, remains unknown."

It's also a mystery how the portly vigilante managed to capture the 27-year-old alleged miscreant. Probably with the help of a kindly old butler full of inspirational speeches?

Clearly a fan of the oldies, the real-life superhero wore Adam West's 1960s version of the costume. We're hoping it's not the last we see of this wannabe Dark Knight. And if he keeps fighting crime, maybe he'll even lose a few pounds in the process.

Today's Badass: Man Pulls Over Cop For Driving Drunk

You read that headline correctly. A law enforcement officer in South Africa, who allegedly couldn't enforce his own blood alcohol content, sped recklessly into oncoming traffic. That's when self-employed vigilante good Samaritan hero Russell George, "concerned about the safety of other road users," pulled the policeman over and took his keys.

Not only that, George "locked him in the back of his own van," which is surely the most ironic citizen's arrest in history. Own-age!

When sober officers arrived, they were super embarrassed on their colleague's behalf. See, it was his birthday, and he'd been celebrating, and he allegedly held his girlfriend at gunpoint (Facebook status: "It's complicated"), and then he fled in a department vehicle. A witness told reporters, "When he was put into the back [of the van], he started crying."

Tears of justice.

Today's Badass: Chinese Girl In Knee-High Boots Crescent Kicks Scissors From Suicidal Woman's Hand

Well there's a headline you don't read every year. The incident occurred in Guangzhou, China on Sunday when a distressed woman intent on committing suicide in the street began screaming and waving a pair of scissors before a crowd of passerby.

For the next phase of the story, we're going to turn it over to LiveLeak, which used Google to (attempt to) translate the local news report.

With more and more people crowd, Hei Yinv emotions more and more excited, he began a sprinkle banknotes into heaven. Help to pick up the bill to a few girls at an age less than 20-year-old girl suddenly the crowd out.

Li said that she looks younger than 20 years old, wearing boots with shorts in the cold, exposed legs suck very eyes.

"Sprinkle banknotes into heaven" is a bit wordier than "make it rain" but keep it in mind if you're looking for a more exotic phrase. Anyhow, the young girl wearing knee-highs and a short, possibly leather skirt, emerged from the crowd, determined the disarm the crazed woman whose hands were bleeding. Her next move took some serious cojones and was a great service to the others on the street, especially considering the recent spate of knife attacks that's plagued China. Those of you with visions of valor in such grave situations, go eat your heart out. Or suck very eyes. Whatever.

Today's Badass: Guy Outsmarts iPhone Thief With Fake OKCupid Profile

Brooklyn musician Nadav Nirenberg isn't merely the trombone player of punk band Streetlight Manifesto. He's also a Batman-level detective and vigilante, at least when it comes to recovering his stolen electronics.

On New Year's Eve, Nirenberg lost his iPhone in a cab while heading to a concert. The jerk who found it didn't attempt to contact Nirenberg, but instead logged into his OKCupid profile and tried to get laid. "He was even using my photo," Nirenberg told the New York Post, which broke and "thoroughly fact-checked" the story. (Didn't the thief consider that ladies would be disappointed to learn he didn't actually look like a rock star?)

Nirenberg saw the OKCupid messages and devised a plan: contacting his impersonator with a fake profile, "Jennifer Gonzalez." Naturally he "used lots of winks and smiley faces so I would seem like a girl." (It's breaking Guy Code to use emoticons, unless you're catching a criminal who stole your s**t, in which case: awesome.) The thief promptly replied, "U wanna meet?"

At this point, most of us would ask the police to make a sting--but that option was too easy. Instead, Nirenberg arranged a date with the man (who wore cologne and brought over a romantic bottle of wine) and then threatened to crack his skull open with a hammer. Needless to say, Nirenberg received his iPhone back. "You smell great, though," he said as the thief ran away.

The only way this story would be cooler? If Nirenberg had threatened to crack the thief's skull open with his trombone.

Today's Badass: Guy Rescues Bobcat That's Trying To Kill Him [Video]

A few hungry bros meant to trap a bunny (or something delicious, anyway) in the woods, but they wound up with a ferocious bobcat instead. So one of them, identified on YouTube as Brett Weiser, did the humane thing and freed the captured animal--even though it clearly wanted to chew his face off.

Over three perilous minutes, Weiser tries to hold the "frikkin' mean little dude" down with a stick while prying the trap open with his foot, despite the bobcat's whacking, biting, circling, growling and generally acting like an ungrateful jerk. (To be fair, from the bobcat's perspective, it was pretty "frikkin' mean" of the humans to set a trap in the first place.)

Today's Badass: MMA Fighter Goes Vigilante On Shoplifter

Jesse Finney, a former MMA welterweight competitor and current trainer, was shopping for groceries at a Missouri supermarket when a man--allegedly carrying seven bottles of vodka--rushed out the wrong door. A female employee tried to stop the suspected thief, but he fought back. And that's when six-foot Finney pinned him to the ground.

"Chill out, relax, I'm not gonna hurt you," Finney, who started his MMA training at age nine, told the other man. "Police are on their way. You're gonna get arrested."

The shoplifter kept struggling and threatening, according to Finney, but "wasn't getting up, I can promise you that."

Finney is now using this media moment to improve MMA's public image. He says many people assume "you're a mean guy, you're a tough guy or you're a bully, and a lot of times it's just the opposite." Sometimes you're just Batman.

Today's Badass: Guy's YouTube Video Earns Him NFL Tryout

Havard Rugland had never played a game of football--but that didn't stop the 27-year-old Norwegian from posting a YouTube video, "Kickalicious," in which he made four minutes' worth of uncanny trick shots. It was averaging 5,000 hits per day, and then this happened:

Not only did the video go viral--hitting a million views earlier this week--but a general manager took ESPN's advice, and Rugland was flown to America to try out for the New York Jets. He told the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, "It went well. They tested me on field goals and kickoffs. Obviously you feel a little more pressure here, but I stayed pretty calm."

Rugland spent a few weeks beforehand training with former NFL kicker Michael Husted, who said in a press release that the Jets "definitely see his potential. They understand that he has never played the game, but his leg strength impressed them. They would like him to continue to train and then they will bring him back in for another workout at the end of February."

So, Rugland can't count his millions quite yet, but he says "my goal is to get a contract before the preparations begin for next season." Not bad, considering that he was just showing off for his camera-wielding friends.

Today's Badasses: Guys Lift Car Off Little Girl

A three-car accident in Brooklyn last night, caused when a cab hit a sedan and an SUV, led to a dire situation: one of the vehicles skidded onto the sidewalk and trapped a nine-year-old girl underneath... until a bunch of pedestrians lifted it off of her.

The kid, Tawaiian Holmes, was riding her scooter when the automobile pinned her from head to toe. According to the New York Post, she told her mother, "Mommy, I love you. Help me. I don't want to die." And she didn't, because seven dudes rushed over, pooled their strength and collectively benched 4,000 or so pounds.

"I couldn't pick it up, I got on my back and tried to push it with my legs," one of the guys told CBS. Another said, "[T]he second time we lifted it, we got it up and her mother slid her out."

The broken legs won't be any fun, but at least she'll live, and so will the other half-dozen people injured in the crash. (Police arrested the driver allegedly responsible.) Tawaiian's mother said, "I think the men who helped are awesome." We agree.

Today's Badass: This Guy Can Do More One-Finger Pushups Than You

Pushups are a fantastic way to stay in shape--and cheaper than a gym membership--but you'd think balancing all your weight on a single finger would cost thousands in Emergency Room expenses for a snapped digit.

All the more reason to admire Xie Guizhong of China, who set a Guinness World Record for "most one finger push ups in 30 seconds" with 41 excruciating reps, or 1.36 per second, beating his previous record of 25. (Hey, everyone needs a hobby.) The video is painful to watch--you'll swear his finger is gonna break--but the triumphant music is all worth it.

Even more incredible than Guizhong's endurance? The guy's face at the :45 mark...

Today's Badass: Dude With One Arm Is New XFC Lightweight Champ

You'd think that missing a fist would make it difficult for 26-year-old Nick Newell to win an MMA title belt, but on Friday he became the XFC's lightweight champion after defeating opponent Eric Reynolds in less than 90 seconds.

"My goal when I started was never to be the one-handed fighter," the undefeated Newell told USA Today. "My goal is to be the best in the world. If you set your goals any lower, you're only cheating yourself."

He lost the lower half of his left arm at birth, but that didn't stop him from wrestling in high school and college, racking up hundreds of wins. Other MMA fighters were hesitant to take on a (supposedly) disabled opponent, but he's earned their respect... and fear.

Hell, they couldn't even beat him with one arm tied behind their backs. Video below:
