About Us

Welcome to GUY CODE, the official blog of MTV2's "Guy Code" series and your online destination for all things dude, including—but not limited to—irreverent commentary on sports, hip-hop and ladies. Stay awhile and flex your manhood.

unleash your manhood

Guys, you're spending today, well, spending. Hundreds of bucks on flowers, chocolates, dinner, champagne, teddy bears and other useless stuff. The least she can do is give you a little somethin'-somethin' in return... by which we mean "Guy Code: Unleash Your Manhood," a new e-book from MTV Books, now available on the iBookstore for $4.99.

It's the account of one dude's journey from pathetic loser to awesome winner after he discovers the Code and its lessons on manscaping, fighting, sexting, the Friend Zone and more. Designed specifically for the iPad, the book contains interactive quizzes to chart your progress, over 20 videos with the "Guy Code" cast and other enhanced content. The regular e-book edition is also available for the Kindle and the Nook.

Either way, "Unleash Your Manhood" will help you transform your life through full implementation of Guy Code. Because unlike those roses you buy today, Guy Code will never die.

howdy

Every now and then, you see a ridiculously hot chick dating a total schlub. It's like "Beauty and the Beast," without the happy ending, because you're not that schlub. On next week's "Guy Code," Andrew Schulz goes out on the streets to ask New Yorkers about "How'd-he," as in "How'd he get with her?"

We bring this up because we were watching the smokin' hot new video of Kate Upton stripping in Antarctica for Sports Illustrated. That got us thinking (once we were capable of thought again) about the dating rumors that surround Upton and Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander. How'd he pull off every living guy's fantasy?

Verlander isn't a hideous troll or anything...and sure, he's a great pitcher. But c'mon, Kate Upton is arguably the hottest woman on the planet, and she chooses this goofy-lookin' dude? How'd-he?

paranoia

Last night "Guy Code" (watch full episode here) taught us that getting stoned can lead to negative consequences, like paranoia about the government coming, and spiders, and government spiders. The cast also told us that while Valentine's Day, PMS and Apologizing may suck for dudes, they're all things you have to do if you want to maintain consistent vagina.

There was a lot of info. You should really watch the episode (again) to get it all, but here are some of the best GIFs from last night to help you along.

Nearly 400 dudes entered MTV2's "Win A Date With Melanie Contest," all making the case for why they deserve to have dinner with Melanie Iglesias in New York City. We received some fantastic submissions, but the votes are in, and the winner (as Melanie announced during last night's "Guy Code") is Harold from Dallas, Texas.

He's a modest fellow who admits "I can't sing" and "my moves aren't the smoothest" at the club. But he promised "a fun night with an awesome guy," and it paid off. Here's his winning entry:

Congrats, Harold. You're proof that humility is a virtue. And that nice guys finish first.

After watching tonight's "Guy Code," you're all prepped for Valentine's Day. But there's one last lesson to learn from the "Cutting Room Floor:" Dealing with the self-consciousness you'll feel carrying flowers, balloons, stuffed animals and candy hearts in public. Because Guy Code goes out the window for a day. As Damien Lemon explains, "Stick your chest out and walk down the street like the proud sucker you are."

Plus, you'll need those chocolates if you've got the munchies. Watch the below clip for more on stoner food cravings, plus how "Breaking Bad" will save your relationship.

One of the highlights of "Guy Code" this season is the new comedy sketches, and--since February is Black History Month--the cast is putting their spin on it. While everyone else honors the achievements of African-Americans from Martin Luther King, Jr. to the guy whose second term just started, we're celebrating "regular" moments that get forgotten.

You already saw the sneak peek with Damien Lemon salting his eggs. Here's the full video with Charlamagne Tha God and Lil Duval not quite changing the course of history.

As you've heard from his music and seen in the trailer for his upcoming MTV2 show, Mac Miller is all about having a good time. If we could invite just one rapper to a house party, he'd be up there in our top choices (along with Snoop and Biz Markie). So, of course, we had to ask Mac what his idea of a Good Ass Night would be.

His answer may surprise many of his fans. In his quick skyrocket to fame, Mac has developed a reputation as a guy who...let's say, knows how to party. However, he lets us know that having a good time doesn't have to involve any substances other than good friends and fun games.

It's February, aka Black History Month, which means it's time for everyone to reflect on the heroic and notable accomplishments of African-Americans in this great country of ours. Usually, people think of the same major events when observing this month: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech, Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color line, Rosa Parks refusing to give up her bus seat and Spike Lee screaming at Reggie Miller during the Knicks-Pacers playoff games.

"Guy Code" began thinking about those other moments in Black History that aren't celebrated. Those "regular" moments. Shouldn't we remember those as well? After all, the month isn't called Noteworthy Black History Month. So, some cast-members put together Regular Moments In Black History Month and Damien Lemon stars in the first one below.

Marijuana doesn't just make you hungry; it makes you a philosopher. Actually, it makes you a complete dumbass, but you think you're brilliant. In this clip from next week's "Guy Code," Dan Soder and Donnell Rawlings mock the deep thoughts of weed smokers everywhere. And Chris Distefano speculates that actual philosophers Plato and Socrates were just blazed on bong hits: "They used to sit in a toga with their balls hanging out, claiming they knew life's secrets." They probably stared at their hands for hours too.

Valentine's Day is a high-risk, high-reward endeavor. Correctly guess your girlfriend's taste in gifts, and you're in for some "gifts" of your own. But if you choose poorly, you'll lose even more points than you would for a crappy Christmas or birthday present, because those celebrations aren't all about your commitment to each other.

The good news: Tiffany Luu from "Guy Code" is here to help you avoid the wrong decision, and maybe (by some miracle) pick the right one. We ran some V-Day classics by her, as well as unorthodox suggestions from gift guides around the web.
