About Us

Welcome to GUY CODE, the official blog of MTV2's "Guy Code" series and your online destination for all things dude, including—but not limited to—irreverent commentary on sports, hip-hop and ladies. Stay awhile and flex your manhood.

girl-code

Since "Guy Code" began airing in 2011, we've received the following comment multiple times every week: "MTV should make 'Girl Code!'" Every girl who posts it thinks she's the first to come up with the idea and as time has gone on, female fans have become more incensed by the fact that the show doesn't exist yet. Well, the wait is over. Starting April 23 at 10:30/9:30c, MTV will air the new series after "Awkward."

Why should men care? "Guy Code" should tell us all we need to know, right? Well, look at this new show as a chance to view the opponent's playbook. You get to see how the enemy is thinking, planning and reacting. Watching will give you an unfair advantage over your competition! It'll be like you're the New England Patriots during Spygate. Why wouldn't you take advantage of that?

What do girls do in the bathroom together? Why do they feel the need to snoop in your phone? What happens if they don't wax? And how do you penetrate a group of girls dancing tightly together at the club? These are all questions that will be answered soon enough.

When Andrew W.K. announced that he'd be the new spokesman for Playtex Fresh + Sexy Wipes ("Whether you just finished rocking a packed club or have an intimate encounter after a busy day, this product will make couples feel brand new," he said in a press release), it caused a media firestorm. And it also caused a firestorm here at Guy Code Blog, 'cause we've been on the male wipes train for months.

We asked the hard-partying rock star for his thoughts on everything from personal hygiene to... uh... Brad Pitt and self-fellatio? You're not gonna have a normal conversation with this dude, but you'll definitely have a fun one.

How did Playtex approach you about this endorsement?

Personally I was given this product, the Fresh + Sexy Wipes, to help me be a little bit better of my own self. There's times when I've realized I'm not a very clean individual, but I always wanted to be clean where it counts. Playtex saw that, the potential I had in that realm, the realm, I really mean that realm, that intimate realm.

I'm not the cleanest guy in the world. I'm headbanging 24, 25 hours a day at this point. I could use a little help in that department, to freshen. I don't need it. I don't need this. Nobody NEEDS this. You WANT this. You don't NEED to clean yourself. You just need to drink water and eat some kind of food. You make choices about what you want, what you desire, what you deserve.

Brad Pitt uses baby wipes. So does Will.i.am. Do you think this is part of a growing movement for guys?

Brad Pitt, he's as handsome and beautiful as a man can get. He really is great. He's got a lot of chutzpah, a lot to offer. I wouldn't say he's taken a lot of risks, but if he wants to clean himself up, that's fine, all right? Actually, I don't think he's that great. He's got a nice face. Just growing a beard, that doesn't do it. That doesn't count.

After "Fight Club" and "Inglourious Basterds," you don't think he's that great?

Yeah, you're right. I take it back.

To celebrate Kickstart's launch, Mountain Dew partnered with the sick graffiti artist, Cope2, to creatively interpret logos of a few select outlets, including us! In a rented industrial studio in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, Cope2 did his version of our logo in less than an hour. You can see his entire process in the GIF below.

Originally from the South Bronx, Cope2 has been tagging for over three decades. He's gained fans from around the world and notoriety from Johnny Law along the way, so we were honored to see his hand on our name.

nerds

Once upon a time, it was easy to differentiate nerds from the popular crowd. They were the bespectacled outsiders who spent their time tapping keyboards rather than tapping kegs or tapping asses. No one "tried" to be a nerd. It wasn't a fashion choice. Some guys were simply predestined by nature to be too intelligent for their own good and insufficiently sociable.

However, somewhere in the last five years, being a nerd became cool. Kevin Durant, one of the best three basketball players in the world, wears dorky glasses and carries a backpack to press conferences like he's just stopping by on his way to math club. The cast of "Guy Code," some of whom are legitimate old-school nerds, discuss this trend in tomorrow night's new episode and we have a sneak peek here:

You know the old saying, "Bros before hoes." We call it an "old saying" because that's really what it is, it's passe. Guys know they'd rather be with ladies than hanging at a sausage fest with their bros. After all, we love our homies and we'd take a punch in the face for them, but let's be honest, we don't want to get naked with them. And that's what it really comes down to...chicks will get naked with us if we're nice and spend time with them. Don't sell your buddies out for some random one-night-stand, but also don't be mad at your friend for spending a bunch of time with his new girlfriend. Charlagmagne sums it all up in this quick Pro Tip, "Chicks Before D*cks."

One of the highlights of "Guy Code" this season is the new comedy sketches, and--since February is Black History Month--the cast is putting their spin on it. While everyone else honors the achievements of African-Americans from Martin Luther King, Jr. to the guy whose second term just started, we're celebrating "regular" moments that get forgotten.

You already saw the sneak peek with Damien Lemon salting his eggs. Here's the full video with Charlamagne Tha God and Lil Duval not quite changing the course of history.

It's February, aka Black History Month, which means it's time for everyone to reflect on the heroic and notable accomplishments of African-Americans in this great country of ours. Usually, people think of the same major events when observing this month: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech, Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color line, Rosa Parks refusing to give up her bus seat and Spike Lee screaming at Reggie Miller during the Knicks-Pacers playoff games.

"Guy Code" began thinking about those other moments in Black History that aren't celebrated. Those "regular" moments. Shouldn't we remember those as well? After all, the month isn't called Noteworthy Black History Month. So, some cast-members put together Regular Moments In Black History Month and Damien Lemon stars in the first one below.

You know that feeling when you buy something expensive and you're excited to show it to your friends, however, instead of also getting excited, no one else likes it and they make fun of you? That's how Florida Governor Rick Scott must be feeling right now after unveiling a $380,000 ad campaign to attract businesses to his state. The idea sounded innocent enough, with the slogan, "The perfect climate for business."

Get it? The actual climate in Florida is really pleasant. Super witty. But they had to go and make the "I" in Florida look like a necktie. This pissed off the feminists because they feel like it implies that entrepreneurs are only men (and women who dress like men).

Usually we side with men on such issues, but we're not picking sides here. All we'll say is that feminists should be glad that Governor Scott (whose head resembles a penis) didn't go with the other proposed ad campaigns, because they're much worse:
