About Us

Welcome to GUY CODE, the official blog of MTV2's "Guy Code" series and your online destination for all things dude, including—but not limited to—irreverent commentary on sports, hip-hop and ladies. Stay awhile and flex your manhood.

What is the story behind the acronym B.o.B.? Books over Bullets? Business over Bitches? Bring one Blunt? Bring one Beer? Contrary to popular belief, none of the above. As The Check-In learned at the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend, B.o.B. just stands for Bob. As he puts it, the periods are there for the fans to make up their own acronyms. Fun, right? B.o.B. is all about having a good time. He grew up in Decatur, Georgia, where the ballers ball, and rose to fame in Atlanta, where the players play. Now he's living the big life, being interviewed by MTV Clutch and having odd, foreign girls steal pizza off his lap. That's right--women in other countries grab pizza off B.o.B.'s lap. We don't understand it, either, but it still sounds like an awesome time.

Standup comedy geeks and fans of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Pootie Tang" (probably all one in the same) will love this installment of The Check-In. Hosts Eric and Jeff Rosenthal catch J.B. Smoove at the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend right before  the Celebrity Game. Smoove is known for being able to riff on anything and doesn't disappoint in this interview. Who would win in a game of H-O-R-S-E between Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian and an actual horse? Smoove doesn't bat an eye, has an answer and even has reasoning behind it. They also discuss "Jersey Shore" star and Smoove's teammate Vinny Guadagnino, who Smoove is stoked to play alongside. He knows the definition of "team" and has Vinny's back.

MTV Clutch's The Check-In had a perfect 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend. Our hosts, Eric and Jeff Rosenthal, interviewed everyone from Wale, Jadakiss, Common and Fabolous to Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, LaMarcus Aldridge, Roy Hibbert and Kevin Hart. Guess what: They didn't stop there. The following video roundup includes short, hilarious interviews with former All-Star Penny Hardaway, Rising Stars Gordon Hayward, Marshon Brooks and Tristan Thompson, Slam Dunk competitor Chase Budinger and even brief sightings of Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin. That's right! When The Check-In goes to Orlando, they don't half-ass it. They "interview so hard, muthaf***ers try to fine them"--but fine them they shall not! Because the Rosenthals have excellent lawyers. You know, being Jewish and all.

Yeah, we know, NBA All-Star Weekend is over. But why should this awesomeness stop? MTV Clutch's The Check-In is going all out with a Post-NBA All-Star Weekend Week Wrap-Up. And it's the only place where you can get LaMarcus Aldridge to talk about p'zones and Kyrie Irving to give his thoughts on New York groupies.

For this iteration, hosts Eric and Jeff Rosenthal chatted with rapper/actor Common, fresh off the first season of "Hell On Wheels." The Chicago native is a big-time Bulls fan, but while Kanye and Jay-Z talk about balling so hard, Common's credo is closer to "bald so hard."

And since he's a politically active rapper, it was only natural to get his take on why it's so important to get off your ass and go out there and VOTE, dammit.

This year's NBA All-Star Weekend may be over, but The Check-In's All-Star extravaganza is just HEATING UP (read in NBA Jam announcer's voice) with more hard-hitting and/or completely ridiculous interviews with some of the league's coolest players.

This time, hosts Eric and Jeff Rosenthal wrangled 6-foot-11 Portland Trailblazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, the NBA's sixth leading scorer and one of the last bastions of hope for the hook shot. With their necks craned, the Rosenthals got the "dish" on which zone Aldridge finds most intimidating (hint: it's not the 2-3 zone, and might have to do with food if you trust our hint quotes).

You'll also want to check out the interview to learn the first rule of Tall Club and to see how Aldridge's favorite quality in a girl compares to Kyrie Irving's answer.

You'd never know Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving was 2011's first overall pick just by talking to him (or by watching him talk to MTV Clutch's The Check-In, same dif). We have to admit, it's gonna be a little harder to hate Duke if they keep churning out players like this.

Before torching his fellow young'ns for 34 points in the Rising Stars Challenge and taking home MVP honors, Irving spoke to our hosts Eric and Jeff Rosenthal about being a "John Doe" amid all the celebs at NBA All-Star Weekend. Just how anonymous was he? He was stopped by hotel security whenever he didn't have his trusty pass.

In addition to joking about using the "do you know who I am?" card, Irving talked to the Rosenthal bros about breaking the notoriously stingy full-court press of New York groupies and why college was the best 4 years year of his life.  Watch the interview to see all that and whether his favorite quality in a girl is good ball-handling or double dribbling.

Do you see how close the fingers of Jadakiss are in this photo? Really close, right? Well, that is his visual demonstration of how close he, Sheek Louch and Styles P are to finally reuniting their legendary hip-hop group, The LOX. When The Check-In cornered Jadakiss at the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend and asked when the decade-long "LOX out" will finally end, the rapper says, "The LOX out will be over 2012...2013 at the latest. We're this close to signing a new deal...weeks away. Literally. All the other LOX talk...this is real, though.... In the next couple of days maybe, or weeks, or right after the All-Star game, when you hear about who is being traded, then you'll hear about the new LOX deal."

Well, count us both surprised and excited! We've been listening to their Bad Boy debut Money, Power & Respect and We Are The Streets on repeat since high school. It is time for some new LOX!

Get even more excited by watching this funny and perfect video interview with Jadakiss. He reveals the news at the end.

Kevin Hart is a high-energy comedian who has been in dozens of movies, TV shows, standup specials and celebrity basketball events. The latter because this Muggsy Bogues of comedy can ball and he proved it at the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend Celebrity Game. Despite getting a technical foul, starting to undress à la Andrew Bynum in last year's playoffs and getting ejected from the game, the fans voted Hart as the Celebrity Game's MVP. If you didn't know his name already, you definitely know it now.

Hart's antics didn't stop after the Celebrity Game. He also showed up at the Slam Dunk Contest, playing a mailman, and delivered a Karl Malone jersey to eventual winner Jeremy Evans. For Hart's effort, Evans decided to dunk over the comedian after donning the jersey.

The Check-In caught Hart before his breakout NBA weekend and asked him about his violent relationship with basketball and Nicki Minaj in athletic shorts. Watch for Hart's kids to poke the microphone toward the end--it's adorably funny (yes, a guy's blog can say "adorably").

mtvU unveiled a new video series called "5 Questions With," where college students get the amazing opportunity to interview a celebrity they admire. Alex, an aspiring comedian and sophomore at Temple University, interviewed his idols and former Temple students, Tim and Eric, on their promotion tour for "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie."

The interview, however, doesn't exactly go the way Alex planned. Watch as the comedy duo makes Alex feel awkward and avoids actually answering any of the questions in favor of eating cake, explaining Butler University and playing "Temple Run." (Disclaimer: They pull out their iPhones a few times and we don't actually know if they're playing "Temple Run," but it's an educated guess because really, who doesn't play "Temple Run"?).

Fabolous has been East Coast rap star since 2001's "Can't Deny It," so being at the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend is old hat to him. He's taking all the V.I.P. parties, strippers and celebrities in stride. Mr. Ghetto Fabolous even has plans to take his son to Disney World afterward because he is a pro and not at all exhausted by All-Star Weekend. However, you know what is not old hat to Fabolous? Doing the most amazing interview ever with MTV Clutch's The Check-In!

You'd think after a dozen years in the game, Fabolous has been asked every question in the book. Not true. The Check-In hosts, Eric and Jeff Rosenthal, dream up some angles that catch this straight gangsta off guard and make him laugh--something you don't often see from him. Have you ever considered the comparisons between the famous Atlanta strip-club Magic City and Orlando aka Magic City? No, you haven't. And neither had this rapper until this perfect interview:
