Legend has it that Beats by Dre was started when Dr. Dre was thinking of ways to expand his brand and someone suggested a sneaker line. "F*ck sneakers, let's do speakers," said Jimmy Iovine, and the rest is history. Beats by Dre from Monster has become such a phenomenon since then that you can find the occasional weirdo with a Beats tattoo, and now the high-quality headphone line is about to get even bigger. It's signed on LeBron James and Justin Bieber for two new exclusive lines, and entered the iPod dock business. All the new products were introduced yesterday at an exclusive event in NYC, hosted by tech guru Mario Armstrong and DJ Enuff. While most of the conversation centered around the products, Mario couldn't pass up the chance to ask about Dre's highly anticipated "Detox." And while Dre remained mum on the album, (only saying that he's made up the word "anticipointment" to deal with the pressure) Iovine made it clear that his music never sees the light of day until he thinks it's ready. Lucky for us, he hinted that might be sooner rather than later.

Quincy Jones and the audiophiles over at Harman have teamed up to produce a line of headphones that are clearly intended to show up similar products by younger moguls like Dr. Dre and Diddy. But hey, wouldn't you expect as much from a man who has more Grammys than any other living musician? Quincy's G.O.A.T status can't be challenged, so when he gives an endorsement like "This is the best quality sound I've heard in headphones, ever. And I'm proud my name is on them" we definitely take note.

Let's hope these babies perform up to spec, because with prices ranging from $150 for the low-end ear buds to $450 for the Q701 premium class head-huggers, we'd barely be able to afford an iPod to plug them into.

Check out some close-ups of the cans below.

We thought part of the reason it was O.K. for kids to kick and push their way around the neighborhood was so that they'd get a little exercise and not become couch potatoes before puberty. But alas, even the skateboard has succumbed to new age automation. Meet the Exkate, a super-powered skateboard that suddenly makes the Segway look kind of cool. Battery powered, and capable of reaching speeds of nearly 20 mph, the Exkate is probably only safe for the most experienced skateboarder. And it's a definite threat to any unsuspecting pedestrian doomed to share a walkway with it. That said, we'd love to see a video of someone on the Exkate racing a guy in motorized boots.

As you may know, the year is currently 2010 and "Back to the Future II," the movie in which the above scene takes place, was set in 2015. That means we're only five years away from self-lacing Nikes! But a bunch of breathless reports from around the web say that Nike plans to debut Marty McFly's self-lacing Air Mags a lot sooner. There's a patent filing that has recently come to light and it's got sneaker-heads thinking that Nike is working on the dream shoes. We're not so sure. We're betting that Nike was just practicing product placement way back in '85. Wouldn't the patent technically belong to Universal anyway?

Check out the patent pics below and let us know if you think these things are real.

This Adidas phone may be a genuine Chinese copyright violation, but it looks official enough for Run DMC to endorse. The "adidass808" gives itself away as a fake because it has both the old three leaf logo and new triangle logo on it, but who cares? At about $80.00 it's still a steal.

This is no smart phone but it's still got some decent specs for a knockoff. There's a 2.4" display (at 240 x 320) packed into the clam shell casing, a 1.3 megapixel camera, dual SIM card slots, microSD card slot, mini USB, FM radio and a removable battery. But we're more excited that the laces on the front are real, and the back is rubber tread.

Welcome to "This Day In Internet History," in which we enter the "Wayback Machine" and see what the web was like on this date in years past. A hint: Craigslist hasn't changed a bit, but just about everything has.

Take a look below at Apple.com's homepage on August 10, six years ago. The "Click Wheel" for the iPod was the next big thing and a whole 20GB ran you 300 clams.

The iPod couldn't play video, and a slightly souped-up version is now called the "iPod Classic." How cute. For all of Apple's innovations, its website has always been pretty bland; Steve Jobs' brain is only so big. Also, notice the lack of an iPhone tab. The damn thing didn't exist until January 2007.

iPhone worshippers seem to be at a crossroads these days. To be the coolest kid on your block, you must have an iPhone 4. But with everyone (and we mean everyone) bemoaning the infamous reception issues, what's an early adopter to do? Well, if you believe Apple, the antenna issue can be fixed by purchasing an iPhone case. And while this may just seem like a ploy to get you to buy another accessory, it's a pretty useful one. Early reports indicate that cases work.

Unfortunately, there are few choices out there for the stylish guy who doesn't want the standard bumper or some bedazzled monstrosity. Luckily, your friends at Clutch have got you covered with a few iPhone cases that won't make you look like a total tool. We even threw in a few "old school" cases for your poor iPhone 3G guys. You can thank us later.
