Playing poker comes with plenty of risks, and talking trash before the river is dealt can only add to the sting of losing all your chips. That's the lesson Carter Gill just learned at the World Series of Poker. He had a 93% chance to beat David Paredes with one card left, and he liked those odds enough to repeatedly taunt, "All you need is a queen." Paredes took that 3% chance, and left Gill making one of the saddest faces we've ever seen:
Losing is bad enough, but it's worse when you make yourself look like a fool, too. At least Gill has a sense of humor about it, and changed his Twitter bio to "Poker player, professional saddest-face-ever for hire...and soon to be B-level reality star." Here are a few other instances when we usually encounter the "I Just Got Beat" Face...
Sad Player On The Bench
After spending a whole week talking about how much better his team is than his opponents', this player finds himself sitting on the bench with a 24-point deficit in the fourth quarter. With not much else to show during the blowout, the camera is sure to highlight plenty of footage of him pouting on the sidelines.
Thank You For Not Giving Me This Award
Pop stars are not known as the most humble people in the world, and many brag about how they're the best artist working today. That is, until they lose on award night and can't mask their contempt for the winner as they applaud their colleague's achievement.
You Are The Father
Daytime talk show paternity tests always begin with a man confidently shouting that he's not the baby's dad. The expression he makes when the results come in is not exactly one of a proud father. Those child support payments are gonna be steep -- he better head to Vegas and try to make a killing at poker.
