Encouraging your kid to do well in school isn't a crime. Impersonating your kid to ace a quiz, however, definitely is.
A 52-year-old French woman is accused of dressing up like her teenage daughter and taking the Bacchalauréat, France's version of the SAT. Her disguise, which involved Converse tennis shoes, low-waist jeans and tons of makeup, was apparently convincing enough to get her seated at a desk with a testing booklet. A supervisor became suspicious, but let her complete the test in order to avoid disrupting the actual students.
Look, if you're concerned that your kid is too stupid to earn a decent score, then hire a tutor. Sure, it might be expensive, but so is the potential $12,000 fine (on top of three years in prison) that this mother could face. Although, to be fair, taking an hours-long standardized exam should be punishment enough.
