One of our favorite additions to "Guy Code" in season three was Dan Soder, who delivered painfully gut-busting laughs. Comedy Central took notice, and now he's performing on "The Half Hour" tonight at 12/11C. As the name implies, it's thirty minutes of standup comedy...and judging by this preview clip, it's gonna be hilarious:
We caught up with Dan to ask about other topics he'll tackle on "The Half Hour," how he felt appearing on Conan and why some comedians are funny on stage but suck at Twitter.
Aside from hipster-bashing, what can we expect tonight?
There are definitely some "Guy Code"-related subjects like drinking, dating, a lot of that kind of stuff.
What have you been up to since season three ended?
I got a haircut, bought a sandwich with the money they gave me and have been taking a lot of naps. So basically, I've been like a lazy Forrest Gump.
What was it like to meet Conan O'Brien back in January?
Meeting Conan was a dream come true. I grew up watching him, so to finally be on his show and meet him was surreal.
Your bit about how "Russians are the scariest white people" got more than a million views on YouTube. Why do you think it struck a nerve?
I think a lot of Russian people like it because I'm calling them badass. I think any group of people would like that. Also, maybe it struck a nerve because it's a great way to get out of a scary situation.
Been watching "Girl Code"? Learn anything particularly useful or gross?
How's being funny on Twitter different than making people laugh on stage?
Being funny on stage and being funny on Twitter are two completely different things. When you make a joke on Twitter, there is no chance to know how funny it is until a little time has passed. If you make a joke on stage and it doesn't fly, you know right away, which is terrifying...and also what I prefer. I stink at Twitter. I just am awful at it.
