The days of having to play your favorite video game for hours just to see a glimpse of a scantily clad female character are long behind us. The computing power of today's Next-Gen consoles coupled with the imagination of a creative game designer can send any man into extended play.
Whether these ladies are shredding down a mountain, battling zombies, defending Earth from being enslaved or making sure their own ass is staying alive to fight another day, the one thing they all have in common is how great they look in action.
With 2012 rushing past us, we felt like it was our duty to pay some respect to the ladies who made playing our favorite video games even that more enjoyable this year.

"Gears of War"
Anya Stroud is just the type of strong, intelligent, sexy-as-hell woman every guy wishes he had by his side. She played a crucial part in the defeat of the locust horde behind the scenes, but from the looks of things she can handle herself in any situation.
8. Ashley Williams

"Mass Effect 3"
Only the smooth talking male Commander Shepard gets to spend alone time with our lady Ashley Williams. Some people might be bummed she only hangs with the top guy, but power is a turn-on for some women.
Like a fine wine, Storm gets better looking in each release of the Marvel X-Men games. Just like Mother Nature, you should fear her and respect her at the same time. Just a friendly reminder to not get her too mad at you.
They say that behind every good man is an even better woman. This isn't truer than in the case of Cortana and Master Chief in "Halo 4." With beauty and brains, Cortana helps her man kick some interplanetary ass through heated multi-player sessions. It's always the guys in uniforms that get the hot girls.

Even bundled in snow gear, Kaori heats up the slopes with her good looks. Back on tour for EA sports "SSX 2012," we were excited to see her show off her skill set which includes base jumping off mountains with a fly suit.
4. Isabella "Ivy" Valentine

"Soul Caliber V"
Ivy graces the screens of "Soul Caliber V" and thank goodness for that. With a name like Isabella, you wouldn't think she could wield a weapon the way she does. A lesson in not judging a book by a scantily clad cover.

If there's anyone we want to hold us down when demons attack, it's Leah from "Diablo III." Easy on the eyes and someone that can talk to anyone.
2. Ada Wong
Any woman who can kill zombies like Ada Wong can and still look sexy doing it has our vote. Oh yeah, the skinny red dress and big gun doesn't hurt her cause.
1. Lara Croft

Seriously, who doesn't love Lara Croft? She has it all, looks, brains, the sense of survival, a spirit for adventure and a body that doesn't quit. It's been rumored that she inspired Angelina Jolie to take all the adventures she and her boy Brad take. Yeah, we can see that.
