On Thanksgiving, Jets fans certainly weren't grateful for trailing New England by 35-3 at halftime, thanks to fumbles from Shonn Greene, Mark Sanchez and Joe McKnight. As the players left the field, they were barraged with heckles from their supposed supporters: "You are pathetic!" "You suck!" "You guys are a disgrace!" "You should be ashamed of yourselves!" "You're terrible!" "Garbage!" "Don't even come out after halftime!"
It's one thing to be disappointed; it's quite another to treat your own guys like arch-rivals. Not exactly what the song meant by "root, root for the home team." Maybe baseball is just more civilized? (Nah...)
