2 Chainz has been in the rap game since 1997 when he co-founded the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle with his high school buddy Dolla Boy. Back then, 2 Chainz went by Tity Boi. He kept that stage name for nearly 14 years before realizing that the mainstream public just wouldn't fall for a rapper named Tity Boy (no matter how you spell it). In 2011, he changed his name and now seems like an overnight success. An "overnight success" who is in his mid-30s, which is the twilight years in hip-hop.
Charlamagne and Lil Duval have followed 2 Chainz since he was Tity Boi, so who better than them to analyze his success? While they appreciate his tenacity, they also warn other old rappers not to get excited by his rise. The rap game is tough and your window to make it gets infinitely smaller with every year past 30.
