This weekend was overloaded with MMA action as the UFC held events on Friday and Saturday. Although nobody really wanted to cough up the cash to see UFC 147 after the highly anticipated rematch between TUF Brazil coaches Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva was scrapped in favor of Silva vs. Rich Franklin when Belfort went down with an injury, fans were treated to a free card that was headlined by lightweights Clay Guida and Gray Maynard. Both headliners were rather bizarre but the clash between Roger Huerta and Zorobabel Moreira at ONE FC in Malaysia had one of the most devastating knockouts you'll see. Good thing we got the GIFs to prove it.
WTF Ace?
Rich Franklin received the nickname "Ace" because of his striking resemblance to Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura character. Never did we take him for the goofy type. But when you get kicked in the balls, weird things happen. In the fourth round, Wanderlei nailed Franklin in his junk. It looked painful and guys handle the pain in different ways. Well, Rich went and dry humped the mat and then did some sumo wrestler stomp to shake his testicles down from his intestines. Good for Rich, weird for everyone watching. Either way, Franklin pulled off the unanimous decision victory in Wand's backyard of Brazil.
Gray Maynard Don't Gif A F***
Everyone thought the Gray Maynard-Clay Guida fight would be a knockdown, drag out brawl. But Guida had other thoughts. The man with the wild hair (which happened to be braided after Maynard complained) didn't fight like the guy who owns six UFC Fight of the Night awards. Bizarrely, Guida ran, and ran, and ran as Maynard gave chase. Maynard got fed up with Guida's antics and spewed a few expletives his way while chucking up multiple middle fingers.
By the fourth round, Maynard said "F*** It!" and dropped his hands as Guida cracked him with three punches. Maynard didn't so much as blink. Guida then shot for a takedown but "The Bully" sprawled and snatched Guida's neck for a guillotine attempt. Guida's survival skills came into play and he managed to escape but Maynard still walked away with the victory. Afterward, Dana White told members of the press that "the fight sucked." Yup, he's absolutely right.

In the UFC, it is illegal to kick someone in the head when he's down. You know, because it's dangerous. But in ONE FC, using an opponent's head for a field goal attempt is cool. Zorobabel Moreira welcomed former UFC fighter Roger Huerta to the ONE FC with a vicious kick to the dome in the second round. Huerta would have been smart to pull a Lucy on Zoro's Charlie Brown but maybe he forgot that punting is part of the game. Wait, since Zoro is Brazilian, American football references aren't fitting. Let's instead say, "Gooooooal!"
