A vampire movie wouldn't really be anything without a hot chick flashing some skin, right? What would "True Blood" be without its fair share of boobs? Yeah, it's cool that Abe Lincoln is going to vanquish bloodsuckers in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," but green-eyed beauty Alex Lombard will surely take your attention away from the gruesome action. So, instead of talking to the fellas, we've opted to sit down with Ms. Lombard about her role as Gabrielle, the love interest of Henry Sturgess, a 900-year-old vampire played by Dominic Cooper. We chat it up with Alex about being buttnaked in a vampire's bathtub, whether she prefers President Lincoln or Vampire Hunter Lincoln and what she has coming up next.
How did you land the role?
I auditioned like everyone else. They were already filming the movie but they brought me in. I play Dominic Cooper's girlfriend. He's a 900-year-old vampire that takes Abraham Lincoln under his wing and tutors him in the way of the vampire. He ultimately teaches him how to be a vampire hunter.
The concept of Abraham Lincoln being a vampire hunter is sort of odd.
I was so intrigued by the title. I thought it was the best mash-up idea ever.
So, how badass is Abe Lincoln?
He's pretty badass! He's a badass, axe-wielding superhero! He's a political and historical hero already but now he's a superhero.
But what’s cooler? Being the president or being a vampire hunter?
I'm going to take vampire hunter.
What's the most interesting thing that happened while shooting?
I'm actually fairly nude in the movie.
Keep talking...
My very first day at work I was naked in a bathtub with Dominic Cooper. It's not really a bad way to start your work day. He just made me feel so incredibly comfortable. I never felt weird or odd about it. At one point we were shooting and--I don't know how this happened -- I looked straight into the camera and I whispered to Dominic, "Oh my God! I looked into the camera!" He said, "That's OK, I do it all the time."
Dare I ask how much skin are you showing in this film?
I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know.
You've also been in a show about polygamy ("Big Love") and a film about planting thoughts into people’s minds ("Inception"). Now you're over here with an axe-wielding Abe Lincoln. What kind of wacky movie are you doing next?
Well, the next film I'm in is called "Man Without A Head!" For some reason I do attract the more interesting film concepts.
Can you give some insight on that?
It's an esoteric movie. The director Johnny Roc is a true artist. He's playing his cards close to his vest and not looking for any press right now. It's a languid, highly stylized film.
Is there a movie or show that you would love to be a part of their cast?
I would love to be on "True Blood." I'm a huge fan of Alan Ball and would love to keep up with the vampire genre. I love "Game of Thrones" too. That would be awesome.
