Tonight at 11p/10c on MTV2 is the premiere of "Hip Hop Squares," a revamped version of the classic "Hollywood Squares" game show. The show takes celebrities from the world of hip-hop (plus Vinny from "Jersey Shore") and places them in nine squares representing a Tic-Tac-Toe board. Two contestants then decide whether or not a celeb is lying about their trivia answers. If they're correct, they win their corresponding "X" or "O." If they're wrong, their opponent takes the space.
MTV Clutch got an opportunity to visit the set of "Hip Hop Squares" and take inventory of the craziness going on. We're happy to report it's a good time over there (brownies were in the green room, along with an open bar...at 11am). On top of that, the show is solidly funny. Here's our recap of what we learned from our big day out at "Hip Hop Squares."
10. Celebrities Hang Out In Brooklyn

Who knew right? We don't mean the out-of-work actors and folk singers who live in Williamsburg walk-ups. We're talking about big-name celebs like Sharon Osbourne. Mrs. Ozzy came out to show support the day we were there. That's a pretty big deal right? Unfortunately, Ozzy must have gotten lost on his way there because he didn't show.
9. Howie Mandel Goes By "Hip Hop Howie"

At least that's what he told host Peter Rosenberg. Howie Mandel was another guest at the taping (looks like "America's Got Talent" tapes right next door). He talked to Peter Rosenberg and offered up some tips on how to be the ultimate host, complete with puns from "Deal Or No Deal."
8. Nick Cannon Is Everywhere
So, yeah, it sounds like "America's Got Talent" definitely tapes nearby, right? Nick Cannon, the N'Credible rapper/actor/entrepreneur, walked out on the set in the middle of the taping in his signature suit swag and the crowd went wild. As you can from the clip above, Cannon is in episodes of "Hip Hop Squares," but during our visit he was just on set hanging out and giving tips. Why? Because he's everywhere.
7. "No one knows what the f*** Khaled is talking about."

The above quote is from Peter Rosenberg's lips. When DJ Khaled is called on to answer a question, he often just defers to his song titles/catch phrases. "All I Do Is Win," "We The Best," etc. etc. Look, it's not the most helpful means of playing the game from the contestants' seats, but you have to respect Khaled. He is constantly on his promotional grind.
6. Lil Duval Is An Instigator
Every game show has one. Actually, every part of society has one. For the episodes we saw of "Hip Hop Squares," it's Lil Duval. The stand-up comic turned into a heckler, berating the contestants on their celeb choices, their answers and almost anything else anyone said.
5. Method Man Likes Adidas...A Lot

Mr. Meth was wearing a fine assortment of Adidas threads for both tapings we attended. First, he rocked the red and white outfit above, and then in the second taping it was all green everything Adidas. Wait a minute, maybe Meth doesn't like Adidas and he's just really a fan of Christmas colors?
4. Vinny and Amber Rose Always Get Hit On

The contestants were relentless in letting these two know that they're the hottest things in two squares. Seriously. Two of the female contestants kept picking Vinny--one gave this knowing wink when he got an answer right, while the other gave him bedroom eyes the entire time. As for Amber Rose, the guys kept saying "G-Spot" to reference the winning square when it applied to Amber. Where was Wiz Khalifa while this was going on?
3. The Audience Gets Lucky

No, not with Vinny or Amber (at least, not that we saw). But while contestants get to win $1,000 prizes for playing, the audience grabbed some great schwag too. At our taping, Foot Action had prize packs for every audience member. They weren't getting houses like the audience on Oprah, but hey, it's better than just heckles from Lil Duval.
2. Amber Rose Rarely Answers Incorrectly

It's a known fact that the celebrities get the answers before the show, and they decide whether to bluff or not. However, we didn't see Amber bluff once. Maybe she thought she was on "Hip-Hop Jeopardy" instead?
1. Hip Hop Knowledge Is Not Necessary

Not all of the questions are hip-hop related. They're all just fun. So whether you're a music scholar or not, check it out tonight at 11p/10c on MTV2.
