We're not sure if you've noticed, but there are a LOT of pretty ladies with ukuleles singing songs on YouTube. They're just broadcasting their cuteness to the masses all willy nilly and stuff, and you're missing out if you're not taking full advantage of it. Let us warn you, this kind of cuteness can be dangerous, downright devastating. If you think you can handle it, we encourage you to watch their videos. But be careful...just one video at a time.
5. Sophie Madeleine
Singer/songwriter Sophie Madeleine and her ukulele are from Brighton, England. In 2009, she released Love.Life.Ukulele, an album entirely made up of songs about war and death and the tuba. We're kidding. Her album's title are her album's subjects. Sophie’s built her loyal fan base one cool song, one cute outfit and one adorable YouTube video at a time. Currently, Sophie is ukuleleling across America to promote her second album The Rhythm You Started (2010).
4. Kate Micucci
Kate Miccuci performed this original song, "It's Time to get Laid," with her co-star William H. Macy to promote the DVD release of "Bart Got a Room." Currently being hilarious in "Raising Hope" as Shelly, Kate and her ukulele are regular scene-stealers. She is half of the musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates (along with Riki Lindhome). They perform songs about gay boyfriends, weed and low self-esteem regularly around the country.
This French YouTube sensation is only 19. She also goes by Morgan and Chipswow, but her official professional name is Scampi. It comes from a French cartoon called "La Famille Pirate." Scampi is the teenage daughter pirate of the family. Those crazy Frenchies! She's our favorite French import since Marion Cotillard. She had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube and had more than 11,000 subscribers to her channel before it was hacked. The ukulele may not be your cup of tea, but you have to admit she's more pleasant to the ears and eyes than Tiny Tim.
Taimane, which means "Diamond" in Samoan, is a Hawaiian native and picked up her first ukulele at age 5. By 10, she was already considered a prodigy and started performing at the corner of Kalakaua and Liliuokalani avenues in Waikiki. This diamond was ultimately discovered by legendary singer Don Ho and became a featured performer in his show. At the tender age of 21, Taimane has became a ukulegend, and she's cute to boot.
1. Zooey Deschanel
Since the "New Girl" debuted last Fall, Zooey Deschanel is quickly becoming America's sweetheart. Can we officially put Jennifer Aniston out to pasture now? In addition to acting and releasing albums with M. Ward as She and Him, she co-founded the humor website Hello Giggles and produces adorable ukulele videos with her famous friends. Does Aniston even own a ukulele? No. We think we've made our point.
All-Time Hottest Ukulady: Marilyn Monroe
The originator of all this ukulele love has to be Marilyn Monroe. Check her out in this classic clip from the 1959 comedy "Some Like It Hot."
