Opening its title defense without four veteran standouts due to suspension, The L.A. Temptation tempted fate, but the remainder of its stout roster managed to push the experienced squad to victory on the road against a spry bunch in Minnesota. It helped L.A. that Valkyrie starting quarterback Jana Skrtic was knocked out of the game with a broken arm during the last play of the first half. Minnesota actually led at halftime by a 7-6 margin. Valkyrie tight end Cydney Froelic, a Clutch favorite, caught a touchdown pass in the first half but that represented the Valkyrie's only points in the game. Click on for a breakdown that's completely serious only half of the time.
GIRL GONE WILD OF THE WEEK

No, not Joe Francis' version of wild. Temptation free agent-signee running back Amber Reed carried the Temptation offense, tallying 85 yards on the ground and three total touchdowns. The Temptation will have a potent offense when WR Melissa Margulies returns from suspension.
ZERO GRAVITY ZONE SHOT OF THE WEEK

Avoid dizziness by finding an object(s) to focus on.
WOMAN DOWN OF THE WEEK
Valkyrie starting quarterback Jana Skrtic (#7) was injured on the final play of the first half when Minnesota rushed to get one final snap near the end zone as time was about to expire. After firing a pass to her right, Skrtic was knocked down by a Temptation defender that busted through the line. Skrtic broke her arm on the play, an injury that will probably keep her out of the team's next game against Chicago. There's a chance she could return for the team's final regular season game in the new year. This is how offensive coordinator and co-head coach Tony Nguyen reacted in the locker room to the play that knocked out Skrtic.
WOW, HE'S PISSED OF THE WEEK

Fortunately this isn't the same table they were planning on using for the post-game flip cup tournament.
CHEST BUMP OF THE WEEK

The LFL, where chest bumps aren't the same as chest bumps everywhere else.
NICE TACKLE OF THE WEEK

Look at the way Valkyrie cornerback Angie Hanson wrapped up an elusive Amber Reed in the open field. Reed's not an easy runner to take down, but Hanson's driving into the opponent with her shoulders against Reed's midsection, her head on one side and Reed's legs wrapped up. Solid defense and also a candidate for gratuitous booty shot of the week.
SHE'S GOT A CANNON OF THE WEEK

Ashley Salerno. Wow. This gal was definitely a real-life Icebox growing up. Salerno threw a few darts to her receivers from midfield, accurately too. If you're a betting man and didn't wager on the Temptation to three-peat, it's probably time to find a new hobby.
ROUGH GO FOR THE HOST CITY OF THE WEEK

Specifically, it was a tough weekend for Minnesota football teams. The 1-5 Minnesota Golden Gophers were on bye and the Vikings got waxed 39-10 by the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, sinking to 1-5. And of course, the Valkyrie fell too--and might have lost its starting quarterback for the season. But this is a talented, well-coached team with spirit and at 1-1, the playoffs are well within reach. How will the Valkyrie players respond? Maybe by eating their gloves.
