Seventy points later, the Green Bay Chill notched their first win in franchise history, a 36-34 thriller over the Chicago Bliss. See quarterback Anne Erler in the photo above? It begs the question, does she have a natural tan? Also, her focus downfield is impressive with a Bliss defender bearing down on her.
Tied at 28 with under two minutes left in the game, Green Bay had its chance deep in Chicago's zone. Erler hit wide receiver Katie Zellner for a 12-yard touchdown pass, putting the Chill up eight after converting a two point conversion, and the team planned a celebration with the finest wines and cheeses in all the land. Only the Bliss got the ball back and 16 seconds later, quarterback Heather Furr broke off a 20-yard touchdown run. But Chicago missed the two point conversion. Green Bay covered the ball on the Bliss' onside kick attempt and then, rejoiced. Click on for some wine, cheese and fun.
HEATHER FURR'S R-RATED PLAY OF THE WEEK
Last week Heather Furr told us that on the field she has a "dirty pirate mouth." She wasn't lying. Heather wore a microphone during the contest for a segment called "Wired Up," in which Heather called out a play dubbed "Triangle Ti****s." Yeah, you read it. The announcers had trouble holding back laughter. We assume it's the ladies' version of the Chicago Bears' play "Rectangular Dong."
ERLER AND OFTEN OF THE WEEK
The Chill won this game thanks to quarterback Anne Erler. Although Erler threw costly interceptions and suffers from Chad Pennington-itis--a quarterback ailment where the passer is unable to throw an accurate ball past 20 yards--she's effective and damn confident. Erler collected much of the Chill's 94 rushing yards herself and found her receivers in clutch spots. Chill running back Melissa DeJesus had a nice game too, but this win was signed and sealed by Erler. Metaphorically.
THE GREATEST STIFF-ARM OF THE WEEK
"You will take my breast cancer-awareness glove and you will LIKE IT!" Chill linebacker Rykki Casey just wanted a hug from Bliss running back Meschel Edwards, but got the stiff-arm instead. Edwards and teammate ChrisDell Harris ran wild for a grand total of "a lot of yards" thanks to power running and Green Bay's soft rush defense. And when Harris toted the ball into the end zone after running nearly untouched with a Furr pitch, her compadres celebrated like this:

Do you want to tell that man no?
DAMN GIRL, YOU NASTY OF THE WEEK
Here's why Erler is awesome. After a touchdown in the first half, the Green Bay QB rolled to her right on a two point conversion attempt when Briawna Shultz jumped her from behind and another Bliss defender wrapped her up from the front. Play over, right? Wrong. Erler shook Shultz off and then, in a fit of rage, with the ball in one hand, body-slammed the other defender to the ground. It looked like a Kane choke slam. And then, oh yeah, Erler ran back to her left and tossed the ball overhand to Katie Zellner to complete the conversion.
