Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand while exiting a car in his native Haiti this weekend. Or maybe he wasn't.
The former Fugee says his right hand was grazed by a bullet as he stepped out of a car to make a phone call Saturday night in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince. But a statement by the local police chief completely contradicts that, claiming that Wyclef was in fact injured by a less sinister object: glass.
"We met with the doctor who saw him and he confirmed Wyclef was cut by glass," said police chief Vanel Lacroix.
Wyclef, on the other hand, said he heard "blow, blow, blow," looked at his hand and saw that a bullet had grazed it. Previously disqualified as a presidential candidate in Haiti, Wyclef is back in his home country to campaign for Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly, a popular 50-year-old singer who's squaring off on the ballot against a former first lady and former senator.
The real question here, though, is how can one confuse getting cut by glass and getting shot? What the hell is going on down there in Haiti? And why is Wyclef there? Didn't he say he'd be gone 'til November?
