The beef we tend to focus on here at Beef Alert involves macho guys who want to suplex each other onto a bed of nails, but not today. Today we're glad to bring you a burgeoning beef between two beautiful young stars--Katy Perry and Britney Spears. Now, calling this a beef might be blowing things a little out of proportion, but as a member of the media, that's my job. Anyway, the trouble started last Friday when Katy Perry responded to a question about product placement in music in videos with this tweet: "do it w/style & grace...Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don't care tho, & u can tell." I got a migraine trying to read that, but I think I get the point. Katy doesn't like it when music videos make the product placements more prominent than the artist.
So where does Britney come into play? Well, the day before Katy's tweet, Britney's video for "Hold It Against Me" premiered and it featured a butt load of product placement. So much, in fact, that she made half a million dollars off advertisers, which included companies like the dating site Plenty Of Fish, the makeup brand Make Up For Ever and Sony. Given the short time between the video's release and Katy's tweet, people seem pretty convinced that Katy was talking about Britney. This means beef. And everyone knows that the only way to solve beef is with a wrestling match in a kiddie pool full of Jell-O (I was not paid for that product placement). Vince McMahon, can you make this happen?
What do you think about Britney's product placement? And more importantly, in what flavor of Jell-O do you think she and Katy should wrestle?
